North Sea Resins one-part, cure-on-command resins can be used underwater or surface as an adhesive, filler or sealant. Fix wet pipes, boat hulls, tanks, etc.
Based on Department of Defense sponsored research for underwater attachment technology, these resins are equally effective when used in harsh environments as they are when used in ideal conditions.
The true value of these resins is their ability to make time sensitive repairs in harsh environments. Machine and maintenance downtime can be minimized due to the rapid cure time and minimal environmental considerations associated with use of the resins.
To facilitate quick repairs, North Sea Resins has developed Rapid Repair Kits that include everything needed to make field repairs. Each kit includes 5 ml of resin, a high-intensity blue LED dive light made by Tektite (depth rated to 333 m), applicator tabs and surface preparation pads.
These one-part resins require no mixing and can cure at temperature extremes beyond -2?C and 40?C without impacting strength characteristics. As fast-onset adhesives, the resins cure as quickly as 30 seconds in air or underwater; however, cure times will vary according to specific resin product and depth of application. The resins cure by a specific wavelength of blue light that does not have harmful health effects.
As a filler and sealant, NSR products have proven to be effective repair solutions for composite materials, copper, brass, stainless steel, aluminum, FRP, PVC, ABS, Polyethylene, fiberglass and concrete. In pipe and tank repairs the resins can withstand operating pressures up to 800 psi. Although these resins are not intended for use with rubber, they are highly versatile and suitable for most other marine and industrial product materials.
As an adhesive, NSR resins can be used with clear substrate hangers, disks or fiberglass mesh. Due to the requirement for light to reach the bond area, adhesive applications are effective when a clear top substrate is present. In a wet or damp environment, effective bonding can be achieved.
We have used this product to repair: leaking solder joints, a boat hull, holding tank, kayak, surfboard, lawnmower deck, and a snowblower; it’s easy! The best results are achieved with a good, clean surface.

NSR-150 This resin is intended for various substrate materials. Its strength has been optimized for PVC, ABS, FRP (Fiber Reinforced Plastic) and Acrylic. This high viscosity material can be used to soak mesh material intended for use as strength enhancing wrap. Independent test lab results have shown PVC pipe repairs capable of withstanding 800 psi. Tests were conducted on resin cured in air and underwater. As a high viscous material, its consistency makes it well suited for vertical applications.
NSR-250 This resin is intended for various substrate materials. Its strength has been optimized for aluminum, steel, copper, brass and concrete. This high viscosity material can be used to soak mesh material intended for use as a strength-enhancing wrap. It has been effective for use in rapid cure concrete repair applications. Independent test lab results have shown aluminum pipe repairs capable of withstanding 700 psi. Tests were conducted on resin cured in air and underwater. As a high viscous material, its consistency makes it well suited for vertical applications.
NSR-390 – PASTE. This is the most viscous resin from NSR. NSR390 has the consistency of a paste and can be applied with a putty knife or applicator stick. NSR390 comes in a 30ml flip-top container. Can be used to fill cracks, voids or defects by applying the resin directly to a properly prepared surface. Can be applied in vertical applications without concern of running. Resin can be used to create an end-cap for conduit. It can be sanded and painted immediately after proper curing. The product has been optimized for adhesion to metals, plastics and composites.
